Frerichs Farm is a nursery and farm located in Warren, RI. Each fall they host the Southern New England Giant Pumpkin Growers Weigh-off in which huge pumpkins from as far away as Canada compete for the glory of “Biggest Pumpkin.” I’d been meaning to go for years and this past fall, we finally made it. We arrived to a crowded field filled with anticipation as the judges slowly lifted each pumpkin with the forklift to put it on the scale. The 2013 winner was grown in nearby Portsmouth, RI and weighed 1426.5 lbs! Sidenote: there was also a winning giant tomato – weighing in at 4.4 lbs.

Frerich’s farm sells garden plants in the spring, summer, and fall and they also sell gifts and gardening supplies.
